JOB DESCRIPTION The Data Storage Management Group, under Operations & Availability Management (OAM), supports data availability and lifecycle management for centrally stored data for Business and Infrastructure applications that run on all platforms. This is accomplished through backup and migration processes, deletion policies and data set standards and guidelines. The Back-up and Recovery Systems Analyst will be responsible for the following: Implement, maintain and optimize processes utilizing established policy management to support backup, archival and file management through the dates life cycle utilizing Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) & Netback up. Support established storage and file maintenance processes, which include: backup, migration, expiry, and recycle Provide 7 X 24 on call support on a rotating basis Maintain and update procedural documents Help ensure currency of all backup TD and server software levels Maintain and enhance the process for reporting and following up on daily backup exceptions Maintain and enhance the Open Systems Service reporting repository used for daily exception and Management reporting Monitor alerts and maintain daily scanning process for HSM environments Manage the TSM/ Netback up Server resources including the database, recovery log, disk and tape storage pools Schedule and coordinate planned maintenance outages Ensure sufficient infrastructure capacity is in place to support the daily TSM workload Consult with TD Applications to explain the framework of the backup service Ensure appropriate data retention policies are in place that meet the TDs recovery requirements Support the Open Systems Tape Service to ensure high availability, audit ability and security Maintain and track TSM User ID access Take ownership of and troubleshoot all TSM/ Net back up infrastructure problems Strong knowledge of Storage Administration/Processes Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) & Net back up Administrator experience Strong knowledge in data migration software products Camino soft and HSM. Knowledge of Automated Tape Library (ATL) technology Windows and UNIX scripting skills Experience with writing SQL queries Demonstrated self-starter with ability to identify tools and processes for enhancing the cost effectiveness of the ITS Storage Services.
